Maverick former NPP Chairman for Fomena Mr. Akwasi Nti Asamoah has warned the members of the main opposition to close their ranks and prepare themselves in unity for victory in 2028 general election
According to him, if the NPP fails to win the 2028 general elections, there is likelihood for the party to spend twelve years or more in opposition, emphasizing that the next NDC flagbearer for the 2028 would spend eight years in power at the detriment of NPP Candidate.
Chairman Akwasi Nti Asamoah who was speaking to OWIA TV morning show host, Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye on February 6th 2026, expressed the commitment that once the party unites it could still wrestle power from the NDC in the next elections.
He has therefore appealed to the NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to ensure he bring every disgruntled member on board including Mr. Allan Kyerematneg and ex-convict Gregory Afoko who was granted pardon by President John Mahama to show Ghanaians that the NPP are united.
He indicated that the NPP as Dr Mahamadu Bawumia has a better chance of winning power because President John Dramani Mahama would not contest again and that gives the NPP flagbearer the chance compared to the NDC candidate who would be new on the contest.
Chairman Akwasi Nti Asamoah further observed that if the NPP remains in opposition for a longer periods political financier would withdraw their funds for the party and that would cement their long term in opposition.
