The Ashanti Youth Association (AYA) extends its profound gratitude to the medical doctors of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for heeding the calls of AYA, Manhyia, and other well-meaning stakeholders in the interest of peace, stability, and uninterrupted healthcare delivery.
At a time when tensions were high and concerns about healthcare services were mounting, the doctors demonstrated patriotism, professionalism, and a deep commitment to the welfare of the people by allowing calm to prevail. Their decision reflects not only their dedication to the medical profession but also their unwavering concern for the thousands of patients who depend on KATH daily.
We are particularly encouraged that even after the intervention of Manhyia, the doctors remained steadfast in advocating for a long-term solution to the challenges confronting healthcare delivery in the Ashanti Region. Their insistence on the operationalization of the various satellite hospitals within the region is both commendable and necessary.
AYA therefore respectfully calls on the Government of Ghana to honour and implement the concerns raised by the doctors. Now that calm has been restored, it is important that the government demonstrates the same level of commitment by ensuring that facilities such as Afari, Sewua, Kumawu, and other healthcare projects are fully operationalized to ease the enormous pressure on Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
As an association, we reaffirm our commitment to working closely with healthcare professionals especially Komfo Anokye Doctors Association (KADA), civil society groups, traditional authorities, and all relevant stakeholders to advocate for the completion and operationalization of these facilities. The health and well-being of our people must remain a national priority beyond political considerations.
We cannot conclude without expressing our profound appreciation and admiration for His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Once again, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership, wisdom, and statesmanship during a period of uncertainty. His intervention has reaffirmed what many have always known—that in moments of difficulty and division, Otumfuo remains a unifying force and a dependable source of guidance.
Indeed, Otumfuo is not only a treasure to Asante and Asanteman but to Ghana as a whole. His influence, wisdom, and commitment to peace continue to inspire confidence among people from all walks of life. It is for this reason that AYA has consistently maintained its cherished mantra: “Otumfuo is the embodiment of our soul.”
We also wish His Royal Majesty God’s abundant grace and protection as he continues his international engagements, including his current visit to Poland and subsequent engagements in Canada on behalf of Ghana and the global community. We pray that Otweduampon grants him strength, wisdom, and a safe journey throughout his mission.
Upon his successful return, AYA will mobilize youth associations and allied groups across Asanteman to organize a mammoth and befitting welcome in recognition of his distinguished service, exemplary leadership, and unwavering dedication to the progress of our people.
May peace continue to prevail, and may we all remain committed to building a stronger and healthier nation.
Signed
